About DAMA

The Sacramento Valley Chapter of the Data Management Association presents each month a guest speaker or panel of information system professionals promoting the understanding of concepts, and the development of practices to manage information as a strategic enterprise-wide asset.

Most meetings are free to the public. Members and guests are welcome to join a discussion and no-host lunch following each meeting.

DAMA is a not-for-profit, vendor-independent association of technical and business professionals dedicated to advancing the concepts and practices of information resource management and data resource management.

Our purpose is to promote the understanding, development and practice of managing information and data as a key enterprise asset. Our objective is to help practitioners become more knowledgeable and skilled in their profession by:

  • Defining and clarifying the roles of information and data resource management
  • Educating corporate management by demonstrating how information and data asset management affects corporate performance
  • Sponsoring regional conferences and symposia where industry experts present state-of-art data practices and theories
  • Providing a focal point for addressing issues relating to information and data resource practices
  • Administering academic and professional certification programs for the DRM/IRM professional.
