Presentation:

Mr. Bockie will provide a presentation on Semantic Modeling.  This will be a review of the business perspective of “Data” or “Concepts or “Information”, with an emphasis on how it’s organized within the language of the business.   The approach presented offers a comprehensive methodology, for capturing the business terms and their definitions.

The Language of Business:

  • Conveying Meaning
  • Using Definitions to Facilitate a Shared Understanding of the Business.
  • Gaining Agreement on Business Terms for a Shared Business Vocabulary
  • Structuring the Language of Business
  • Keeping a Record of the Language of Business.
  • Putting Rigor into the Definition of the language of Business
  • Verification of areas that will benefit from accurate Business Definitions.
  • This is a Business Problem NOT an IS Problem.
